Advertising regulation in the German iGaming market

Background - German iGaming market:

In Germany, a recent ruling by the Higher Administrative Court of Saxony-Anhalt has emphasized the importance of adhering to advertising regulations in the German iGaming market. This ruling was reaffirmed when an undisclosed operator faced penalties for advertising on affiliate marketing sites that promoted illegal offerings.  Licensed gambling operators who intentionally advertise on affiliate marketing sites featuring illegal offerings can face sanctions by the German regulator, Gemeinsamen Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL).

Important for iGaming Operators:

For those considering entering the German iGaming market or already operating there, understanding the regulations surrounding advertising is essential. The ruling by the German Higher Court serves as a reminder that compliance with advertising guidelines is crucial for businesses seeking success in this industry. Failing to comply with these regulations can result in financial penalties and damage to a company's reputation. This ruling also puts a spotlight on the rigorous regulations that are in place in the German iGaming market.

What we have in store for Germany:

While Germany has its own regulatory framework, operating in the German environment comes with regulatory challenges similar to the Dutch market. We are therefore expanding our services into Germany. While we further grow our portfolio of services, this is currently especially interesting for those operators that are interested in new German solutions for the separation of player funds and the required minimum guarantee.
