As 2025 begins, Curaçao's iGaming sector is evolving with the new LOK and updated AML guidelines, the launch of our client compliance portal, and the launch of EM Group’s iGaming Compliance Services (iGC). These developments, alongside key takeaways from ICE Barcelona, are shaping the future of compliance and licensing.
Just ahead of ICE, the Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) has released the latest AML guidelines. These updates follow the informative session held in July 2024, attracting a significant audience to the virtual meeting.
The regulations officially came into effect on January 9, 2025, allowing a 3-month transitional period until April 10, 2025, for online operators to align with the new requirements. We have been in regular contact with the CGA to stay updated on the deadline and are assisting our clients to implement the necessary measures for AML compliance. The revisions include detailed insights on conducting Customer Due Diligence (CDD) procedures.
Additionally, these guidelines cover aspects of the alignment of AML compliance with the Compliance Officers' directives outlined by the CGA.

Our account managers will reach out to their respective Curaçao clients in the next weeks to discuss a roadmap towards full AML compliance within the proposed term.
After a successful collaboration with Becco solutions, who provided an onboarding portal exclusively to EM Group for the license application process in the first quarter of 2024, we are now opening a Client Compliance Portal on the Becco platform. The portal will play a pivotal role in all our future endeavors to make and keep our clients compliant with the guidelines and policies of CGA.
Our Curaçao clients will receive a personal invitation in the next days to log in to their personalized and secure Client Compliance Portal.
iGC will be EM Group’s iGaming Compliance services brand, part of EM Group, which has the ambition to service all Curaçao licensees with the purpose to enhance compliance of their policies and procedures with regulatory requirements. This will include the provision of Compliance Officer services, as required by the CGA. A separate company has been set up in Curaçao to be able to service any client in view of their compliance needs, regardless of whether they are already EM Group clients, iGC’s services will include:
iGC’s mission is to enrich all licensees with solutions that can meet the obligations of the LOK that will soon be enforced by the regulator. For more details, please get in touch with your account manager at the EM Group or with Arran McCarthy.
The gaming industry witnessed significant transformations in 2024, to name a few: (i) ICE relocating to Barcelona and (ii) Curaçao implementing the new National Ordinance of Games of Chance (LOK). Curaçao's efforts to modernize its iGaming sector have set the stage for a future of enhanced compliance, licensing, and local standards, bringing forth an era of innovation; and EM Group was poised to share these developments in Barcelona.
Despite the vast venue causing some fatigue among exhibitors and visitors walking up and down, the consensus was that the event was both rewarding and vibrant. At EM Group, we agree with this consensus - it was a fruitful event, reminiscent of London’s presence. With a record-breaking 57,000 attendees across ICE and iGB Affiliate, Barcelona was the biggest gathering of gambling professionals in history, making it a perfect stage for the unveiling of EM Group's newest brand, iGC.
With organizers already planning to expand into additional spaces in the coming years, the grand Fira Gran Via in Barcelona left a mark on all participants. The affiliate show is set to move to Hall 8, while the main show will expand into Hall 1, promising continued growth and opportunities for the industry. EM Group is proud to disclose its interests towards exhibiting at ICE, in Barcelona, in 2026, and would like to thank all clients, associates, ambassadors and colleagues for making it a great experience.
